I am interested in knowing what movies you have watched and what you enjoyed or not. So please send me an email at scinema@earthlink.net if you'd like to share. Here's what I watched last week:
Enjoyed:
2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards (2024) - While I found it annoying that this program was on YouTube, I was tickled to find that many past shows were also available for viewing. It is a shame that at about the 41 minute mark until the end of the show a single anti-Israeli protester outside the venue began playing a loud recording of a protest chant into a megaphone causing confused distraction for the people on stage.
1986 Independent Spirit Awards
Has anyone a copy of the 1987 ceremony?
1988 Independent Spirit Awards
1989 Independent Spirit Awards
The 27th Annual Tony Awards (1973)
The 41st Annual Tony Awards (1987) - Featuring a wonderful tribute to Robert Preston and George Abbott this was a particularly terrific show.

David Deal enjoyed:
TIP NOT INCLUDED (66) - See The Eurospy Guide for a complete review of this Jerry Cotton series entry.
OPPENHEIMER (23)
MASSACRE GUN (67) - Jo Shushido and his brothers try to pull away from the local gang boss, but after the boss takes it out on one of the brothers, Shushido goes revengin'. Excellent Japanese crime story shot in gleaming black and white widescreen from Nikkatsu studios. These guys wear sharp suits and the jazz flows freely, as does the harsh violence. Recommended.
Mildly Enjoyed
INFERNAL SPIDERS (66) - The Blue Demon must fend off invaders from the Aracnea galaxy; spider-like creatures that can take human form and feed on human flesh. Blue Demon manages to defeat the aliens and meet his wrestling match quota. The last black and white BD feature is a serial-like adventure for young fans, no better or worse than previous or future entries, but the sci-fi/horror elements lend this a certain panache.
INFORMATION RECEIVED (61) - Scotland Yard agent William Sylvester impersonates an imprisoned safecracker, whose talents the bad guys need.Once broken from prison, Sylvester must navigate the wiles of femme fatale Sabina Sesselman and crack a safe he's never seen. Fast moving British thriller provides adequate entertainment.
INSIDE OUT (75) - Ex-Nazi James Mason enlists the services of Telly Savalas and Robert Culp to claim six million dollars worth of gold bars stolen by the Nazis in WWII. But first they have to free a Nazi criminal from a high security prison who knows the location of the loot. This British heist flick is a complete knock-off of the Mission Impossible television series, and so it is enjoyable on that level.
CAPER OF THE GOLDEN BULLS (67)
KERIM, SON OF THE SHEIK (62) - Kerim AKA The Black Sheik (Gordon Scott) takes revenge for the death of his sister by the hand of Omar (Alberto Farnese), the evil usurper. Kerim rallies the local tribes to overthrow the tyrant, while falling for Cristina Gaioni. Well-mounted Middle Eastern adventure will satisfy fans. Moira Orfei and Jany Clair brighten the proceedings, while Gordon Mitchell briefly darkens them.
LADY IN THE FOG (52) - Bernadette O'Farrell makes the acquaintance of magazine writer Cesar Romero while waiting for her brother in a pub. Just then word comes that her brother has been run down outside the bar in a thick fog. Bernadette suspects murder, so Cesar embarks on a twisty mystery that involves a new invention and blackmail. Breezy British thriller based a radio serial. Our hero is a semi-successful amateur sleuth whose success on the case has more to do with luck than anything else.

Bertrand van Wonterghem Enjoyed:
Sealed cargo (1951, Alfred L. Werker)
Trois jours max (2023, Tarek Boudali)
Mildly enjoyed:
The giant claw (1957, Fred F. Sears)
Hitler dead or alive (1943, Nick Grinde)
The fall of the house of Usher – season 1 (2023) – episode 3
Did not enjoy:
Sei bounty killers per una strage (1973, Franco Lattanzi)
Beach babes from beyond (1993, Ellen Cabot)

Angel Rivera Mildly enjoyed:
"THE PROJECTED MAN" (1966)
I remember when I first saw stills of the makeup job Bryant Haliday wore in this film I always wanted to see it. Finally got to see it now that YouTube had a good copy. The film is derivative of films like: "The Fly" (1958) and "The 4-D Man" (1959). Haliday plays a scientist researcher experimenting with teleportation which goes awry. Not as good as those other films I mentioned before, but good makeup effects.
"AMERICAN FICTION" (2023)
An African-American writer makes up a story about what African-Americans go through in this country. Some elements may remind some of the Peter Sellers movie, "Being There" (1979) and the movie "Dear White People" (2014). The movie has some good moments, but the ending is sort of a disappointment.

Charles Gilbert watched:
DAVID AND BATHSHEBA (1951) Debuting the year of my birth, this Old Testament story about the infamous illicit affair between the titular charactors takes a few liberties by assuming she had an unhappy marriage to Uriah the Hittite (Kieron Moore), and that she knew the king would be watching her bathing in full view. The slaying of Goliath is told in flashback at the end when David (Gregory Peck) makes a pretence of repentance. He tried to escape from the wrath of the populace but was cornered. I was surprised to see Sherlock Holmes' inspector Lestrade (Dennis Hoey) in the cast.
The Millionaire Preacher With a Weight Loss Cult (2022) YouTube video by NOT THE GOOD GIRL documenting the scandalous life of Gwen Shamblin. Weigh Down weight loss marketing was begun by a mousey blonde named Gwen Shamblin from the Nashville area of Brentwood Tennessee. Upon gaining much success, she was featured on the Larry King show and 20/20, and soon after started a fundamentalist church regarded as a cult. Film actor Joe Lara, who played Tarzan for television audiences, made his way into her life, when he moved to Nashville from California, with designs on being a country music star, and became her "trophy husband". They both lost their lives, along with five others from the church, when Joe, piloting their plane on the way to a Trump rally, crashed into a lake soon after takeoff.
