Brain Teasers:

In which Italian Western is there an exterior Cashier's window at the Sheriff's office?
No one has answered this question yet.

Which Italian actor regrets turning down the role Gian Maria Volonte got for PER UN PUGNO DI DOLLARI because the money was too little?
No one has answered this question yet.

How did Lang Jeffries get his start making movies in Italy?
Angel Rivera and George Grimes knew that his wife at the time was Rhonda Fleming. She was cast in LA RIVOLTA DEGLI SCHIAVI, aka THE REVOLT OF THE SLAVES, and she convinced the producers to hire her husband as the hero. Fleming soon divorced Jeffries saying that after his TV series Rescue 8 was cancelled, he was content to stay home while she worked. Italian producers liked Jeffries and so he worked fairly steady until 1971.

Which American body builder, who also went to Italy to make movies, used to be a roommate to Steve Reeves in the time of the "Muscle House"?
No one has answered this question yet.

Which American body builder ended up marrying his best friend's ex-wife?
Charles Gilbert and Angel Rivera knew that it was Ed Fury, who married the ex-wife of Reg Lewis.  When I met her, she called herself Sherri Fury.

And now for some new brain teasers:

For what movie did Gordon Mitchell accept 10 acres of land near Cave when the producer couldn't pay him his salary?
By what name is Christopher Harton better known?
By what name is Steve McCoy better known?

David Deal Enjoyed:

SHERLOCK HOLMES FACES DEATH (43)

CREEPSHOW (82)

THE TINGLER (59)

MONSTER MAKER (44) - From 2007: "PRC sickie still holds up thanks to J. Carrol Naish as the twisted Dr. Markov.  Too bad Glenn Strange didn't have more to do."

SCREAM OF THE WOLF (74) - Please refer to the Television Fright Films of the 1970s book for a complete review of this interesting entry.

SCREAM OF FEAR (61)

ALIEN (79) - The 4K looks great.

THE DEVIL'S WEDDING NIGHT (72)

THE HAUNTED PALACE (63) - After all this time, and all the viewings, this is rising to the top of the Corman/Poe series for me.

THE LIVING SKELETON (68)

TWINS OF EVIL (71)

CURSE OF THE MUMMY'S TOMB (64) - From 2008: "Clearly the best of the Hammer series after their original in '59.  Good, clean widescreen fun."

COLLEGE GIRL MURDERS (67)

Mildly enjoyed:

FRANKENSTEIN'S BLOODY TERROR (68) - From 2006: "Atmospheric monster mash that kicked off Paul Naschy's career as the wolfman Valdemar Kandinsky and ushered in the Spanish horror boom. Great locations and some gorgeous photography make for an enjoyable ride through an ambitious, enthusiastic and rather silly movie."

WORLD OF THE VAMPIRES (62)

SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE (82)

Angel Rivera  Enjoyed:

"ROGER DODGER" (2002)
Stars Campbell Scott as a would be expert on picking up women and a teen-aged Jesse Eisenberg as the nephew Scott is going to take under his wing. Features  Jennifer Beals and Elizabeth Berkley as two women the duo manage to pick up with mixed results. Isabella Rossellini is along as Scott's boss who has just ended her affair with Scott. The attempts to train Eisenberg to be a "lady's man" have mixed results, but everyone gets a valuable lesson in the end.

"THE BEST OF EVERYTHING" (1959)
A "woman's film" (re: "chick flick")  which takes place in the New York City publishing world. The cast is led by Joan Crawford, as the aging "queen" of the publishing firm. Along with her is career girl Hope Lange, who aspires to and gets Crawford's job when Crawford leaves her job because she is going to marry an old flame. (When Crawford saying it was to late for her to marry returns, Lange relinquishes Crawford's old office which Lange was using, but now both work as equals. Suzy Parker plays an aspiring actress doing the secretary bit as a day job. She gets her possible break when she has an affair with powerful director Louis Jourdan and he casts her in his play. He then dumps her when she can't perform up to task. She then becomes unhinged, leading to tragedy. Brian Aherne is the lecherous editor-in-chief who sexually harasses a number of the female employees. (But because the film takes place in the fifties, Aherne is not taken to task for his behavior.)  A great document of its time.

"VALLEY OF THE DOLLS" (1967)
Another document of its time. Patty Duke, Sharon Tate and Barbara Parkins as three women with aspirations to succeed in their respective fields. Duke is an aspiring actress/singer. Tate is an actress trying be taken seriously as an actress and not just for her physical "assets". Parkins has trouble in her career and her romantic life. A cult classic for a reason.

Mildly enjoyed:

"HONOR AND GLORY (1992)
A Cynthia Rothrock vehicle, where they "showcase" another female martial artist named Donna Jason, playing Rothrock's aspiring journalist sister.. Rothrock, is a veteran FBI agent and with Jason, and a black bodyguard and a Hong Kong policeman named "Dragon Lee" upend the criminal career of a corrupt business man.  Again not enough Rothrock as they give time to the other combatants; taking time away from her. Mildly entertaining.

Charles Gilbert watched:

THE HIGH AND THE MIGHTY (1954) William Wellman directed this overly long prototype of air disaster films that included his little son in the cast. John Wayne headlines a notable ensemble of familiar faces including Robert Stack as the captain of the flight. While generally maudlin in tone, there is an interlude of levity courtesy of married couple Phil Harris and Ann Doran aboard, departing from, and hearkening back to their farcical vacation in Hawaii. The Tiomkin score wears thin over the course of 2 hrs 27 min running time, underscoring the romantic retrospective narrative of each character. Wayne even whistles the leit motif in the beginning and the end ad nauseum.

SIEGE OF SYRACUSE (1960) The famed inventor Archimedes (Rossano Brazzi) is betrothed to patrician Clio (Sylva Koscina), but carelessly falls for plebe Diana (Tina Louise) while experimenting with mirrors for the defense of his beloved city. A brief courtship results in her pregnancy, but after being abducted by the Romans she suffers amnesia from a knock to her noggin result of a fall, and she can't remember who the father is.(well that's original). No crisis, though. Roman Consul Marcellus (Alberto Farnese) takes her for his bride, and soon they have two lads, one from their union.l
So now, five years later, Archimedes is back with Clio, but she is barren, and he is desolate. The king of Syracuse commissions him to act as envoy to Rome for their support in the conflict with Carthage, and keep his mind off his domestic woes. But Rome is where Diana has come to settle in the halls of power.  He happens to see her in the gardens, and with a ray of sun peeking through the trees, as on the day they first met, she recovers her memory. Archimedes concedes to the complex arrangement he has caused, and decides not to pursue Diana any longer. Back in Syracuse Clio hears of the matter, and dashes to console him, but recklessly plunges off the coastal cliff in her chariot.
Ten years later Diana still pines for Archimedes, and Marcellus is livid about it. When his legions attack Syracuse, the giant mirrors are employed to harness the sun's power for destruction of the ships, but Marcellus doesn't die until he's killed later by swordplay. Even with him out of the way Archimedes decides to renounce their son Marcus (Luciano Marin) and washes his hands of Diana. Fine'.
Marin the "son" is actually three  years older than "mom" Louise.
