I am interested in knowing what movies you have watched and what you enjoyed or not. So please send me an email at scinema@earthlink.net if you'd like to share. Here's what I watched last week:

Highly enjoyed:

A Century On Film, World War II in 8K, Full Record of World War II, Part 1, Fervor 1937-1940 - NHK in Japan has remastered mostly newsreel footage to give a clear picture how the populaces of Japan and Germany were eager to support the war of aggression their countries infected on the world. With the remastered images, they can point out previously obscure details in the images while the narrator provides depth with historical information not shown on camera. I never knew that Germany was the major supplier of weapons to the Chinese Nationalist Army when Japan invaded. After Germany and Japan agreed to be allies, Germany then stopped supplying China and the U.S. had to step in.

Mildly enjoyed:

PROJECT HAIL MARY (2026) - For me the highlight of this rather long but enjoyable movie was seeing Milana Vayntrub in the supporting cast.

Angel Rivera Highly enjoyed:

"THE RAINMAKER" (1956)
Burt Lancaster, Katherine Hepburn, Lloyd Bridges, Earl Holliman, and Wendell Corey. With such a cast you have a top-notch movie. Burt Lancaster plays "Starbuck", a conman who for $100.00 says he can make it rain. Great performances especially by Lancaster and Hepburn.

ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13" (1976)
John Carpenter's masterpiece about a decommissioned police precinct  under siege by a gang of hoodlums.

Mildly enjoyed:

"MESA OF LOST WOMEN" (1953)
Jackie Coogan of Uncle Fester of Addams Family fame  plays a mad scientist experimenting on some women.

Charles Gilbert watched:

INVINCIBLE GLADIATOR (1961)

GLADIATORS 7 (1962)

SWORD OF THE EMPIRE (1964) General Marcus (Lang Jeffries) must fend off incursion into the eternal city by the Gauls (lead by Adriano Micantoni), and at the same time lead revolt against the devious Commodus (Enzo Tarascio) who persecutes the Christians in Rome.

HERCULES IN NEW YORK (1970) First film for Arnold Swartzenegger includes another bodybuilder named Dennis Tinerino in a very small role as Atlas.

BATTLE BEYOND THE SUN (1962) Russian produced space race film was delivered to American theaters by Roger Corman. The story is about the two factions of earthlings now divided by hemispheres vying to be first on Mars. Foreboding music throughout enhances the special effects, but the storyline is rather dull. Nondescript creature prevents a landing on the Red Planet, but the cosmonauts are still rousingly welcomed when they return home to terra firma.

LOVE SLAVES OF THE AMAZON (1957) Eduardo Ciannelli persuades Don Taylor to venture into the Amazons for treasure and beautiful women. He encounters so many voluptuous gals his head spins. I guess Phyllis and Hazel weren't enough for him. Story by Curt Siodmak.
