I am interested in knowing what movies you have watched and what you enjoyed or not. So please send me an email at scinema@earthlink.net if you'd like to share. Here's what I watched last week:
Enjoyed:
20 Things To Do In Midsomer... Before You Die (2022) - A tribute to the 20th year of Midsomer Murders.
Mildly enjoyed:
2022 FiLM iNDEPENDENT SPiRiT AWARDS - The comedy bits were particularly dull -witted, but it was fun hearing all of the actresses in skimpy dresses complain about being cold.
Uncnsrd "Keyshia Cole" (2022)
Unsung "Soul For Real" (2022)
Did not enjoy:
THE EYES OF ORSON WELLES (2018) - Mark Cousins may be the most annoying maker of documentaries ever - even more than Nick Broomfield. While he gathers some fantastic material, and gets the co-operation of daughter Beatrice Welles, Cousins' narrates his film as if he is having a personal conversation with the subject - asking many probing questions and guessing what the answers may be.

David Deal Enjoyed:
THE BOOK OF LIFE (14)
BLIND DATE (59) - AKA Chance Meeting. Artist Hardy Kruger arrives at a flat for a rendezvous with his lover and finds the door open. He waits around for a bit and then suddenly the police arrive and discover a dead body in the other room. This British thriller unfolds in flashback as inspector Stanley Baker tries to get the story out of Kruger. Joseph Losey's police procedural has a lot on its mind, particularly class distinction. Both Kruger and Baker are excellent in this twisty mystery. Recommended.
DETOUR (45) - From 2000 "Edgar Ulmer’s amazing film noir that is filed down to the absolute minimum of cinematic resources but retains a maximum of bad luck."
SLAUGHTER (72)
OSS 117 PANIC IN BANGKOK (64) - Check The Eurospy Guide book for a complete review of this Kerwin Mathews entry.
THE FALCON IN SAN FRANCISCO (45)
Mildly Enjoyed
CALLING BULLDOG DRUMMOND (51) - Drummond (Walter Pigeon) is called out of retirement by Scotland Yard to infiltrate a very efficient and successful robbery gang run by a mysterious boss. Plenty of twists and turns in this entertaining British thriller.
SANTO VS THE RIDERS OF TERROR (70) - The one and only Santo movie set in the old west has a group of lepers escape their compound and terrorize the neighborhood. The ineffectual sheriff calls in Santo to help. Definitely strange but entertaining in the Santo way. Yes, Santo rides a horse and yes, there is wrestling.

Angel Rivera Watched:
At the suggestion of my lady, I watched "The Phenix City Story (1955) a good true crime story. Richard Kiley plays a man who becomes Attorney General of Alabama after his father, who was originally running for that office, is murdered by the mob. Kiley goes after them with a vengeance.
"Point of Impact" (1993) (aka "Spanish Rose") a crime action thriller from the 1990s starring Michael Pare, Michael Ironside and Barbara Carrera. Pare plays a disgraced customs agent out to clear his name and avenge the death of his best friend killed in a botched customs raid. Michael Ironside is the drug kingpin and gun smuggler involved in the death of Pare's friend and Barbara is his so-hot wife. Some good action scenes and really steamy and graphic love scenes between Pare and Carrera.
"Tryst"(1994) another steamy erotic thriller from the 1990s starring Barbara Carrera and Jamie Luner. Just a guilty pleasure for all the erotic and graphic cheesecake in it.
And "Sacrifice"(2000) This time Jamie Luner is involved in helping Michael Madsen who is out to avenge his murdered daughter. More erotic and graphic love scenes involving Luner and some good action scenes.

Charles Gilbert watched:
90 MINUTES IN HEAVEN (2015) Texas pastor Don Piper, pronounced dead after suffering a head on collision, revives before the wreckage is cleared. While recovering from devastating injury he makes the claim he visited heaven. His story in book form has sold more than 50 million copies. Detractors like Reformist apologist Justin Peters, who is a paraplegic himself, maintain it's a fraud. I was more interested in seeing how the film maker depicts "glory" with special effects. Disappointing.
John 3:13 "And no man has ascended up to heaven except he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."
DEADLY RELATIONS (1993) Based on a true story, Robert Urich plays a decorated ex-U.S. marine now residing as a well heeled lawyer in Louisiana. He brings the rigor of the military to his four daughters at home, including their suitors. After murdering the first three sons-in-law deemed unworthy, he finds himself at odds with the whole family who testify against him. Shelly Fabares plays his long suffering wife.
Tribute to Linda Darnell hosted by Peter Graves.
